Milling machines:

Complex geometries produced quickly

CNC milling machines: The basis for your production success

SW CNC milling machines set the standard for the precise and economical machining of steel, cast iron and non-ferrous metals in all batch sizes. In addition to classic 3-axis machining with an X-axis, a Y-axis, and a Z-axis, they also perform complex 5-axis machining very quickly and with high precision. As multi-spindle CNC machining centers, they raise productivity in your manufacturing for cutting processes to a new level. For example, a SW CNC-controlled four-spindle milling machine reduces cycle times by up to 60 percent, compared to four single-spindle milling machines. And it does so on 70 percent less floor space.

Shortest cycle times reduce unit costs

SW machines ensure maximum efficiency by providing the shortest cycle times with highly dynamic axes in all traverse paths. CNC-controlled, highly efficient drilling operations and extensive milling work with automatically changed machining tools reduces the price per workpiece. Multi-spindle CNC machining centers multiply output compared to conventional milling machines.
Additionally, SW machines allow the loading and unloading ofworkpieces in parallel machining time with the double swivel carrier. Highly dynamic axis movements and short tool change times further shorten cycle times and reduce unit costs in series production. With customized automation solutions from SW, including vertically arranged pallet storage for the workpieces and robots for loading and unloading, you can further increase your productivity. The automation fits seamlessly into the control of the milling machine.

One clamping position for all machining steps

SW CNC machines and technology are inseparable for our Technology People. With the help of our customers, we not only consider individual technical data such as the feed rate in the X-axis, but also the entire process from the raw part to the finished component in interaction with the machine. . In doing so, we look for the fastest and most economical solution for you so that you can process in reproducible quality. An important starting point is the complete machining in a SW machining center in a single clamping position using customized clamping fixtures. For example, for steering knuckles or transmission housings, single clamping efforts save time and improve the reproducibility of the results.

Reproducible surface quality

Milling machines are machines that process a wide variety of steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. But they also process other materials such as carbon, ceramics, glass or even wood. SW CNC machining centers also produce very complex geometric shapes, such as those required by the two counterparts of scroll drives or mold making. Machine operators process the fixed workpiece in the milling machine with rotating tools. CNC milling machines move the tool driven by the work spindle simultaneously in three directions according to the specifications of the CNC control. With additional axes, 4- and 5-axis machining is also available on SW milling machines.

In series production, workpieces should be completely machined in a milling machine in one clamping position, if possible. This helps to keep the price per component low. The work spindle automatically removes the milling head or drill bits required for the respective machining step from a tool magazine. The high accuracy of CNC-controlled machining on each travel path and the achievement of a high surface quality of the manufactured components depend decisively on the rigidity of the machine and the feed axes, as well as the sensor technology used. On request, we will calculate for you in advance, the cycle time you will achieve with the milling machine using the latest simulation programs.

With their patented monoblock and box-in-box 3-axis unit, milling machines from SW ensure maximum precision and reliability. The closed power flow in the monoblock of the machine is one of the key components for a stable machining process. Likewise, the box-in-box 3-axis unit with its weight-optimized design ensures maximum dynamicsand thus fastest axis movements.
