Waldmössingen/Pune, April 15, 2025– Schwäbische Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH (SW) is further expanding its international presence and has opened its own branch in Pune, India, as of April 1, 2025. With this step, SW is strengthening its local market presence and ensuring that customers can benefit from the company’s smart manufacturing solutions even faster in the future.

The subsidiary ‘Schwaebische Werkzeugmaschinen India Private Limited’, headed by Rakesh Patel, will be responsible for sales and service for the Swabian company’s state-of-the-art CNC machining centers and automation solutions. SW has already been operating successfully in India for 18 years through local representatives. The decisive factor in establishing the subsidiary was the desire for greater customer proximity through local experts. “Internationalization is a reality for SW. ‘Think globally, act locally’ is a key component of our strategy for the international market,” emphasizes Dr. Daniel Rieser, Managing Director Sales and Marketing at SW. “A direct line to the customer is irreplaceable for us. This requires trusting business relationships and a strong, local service team.”

Strategic growth market India

With the subsidiary, the company is now taking the next logical step and offering its Indian customers service and sales in their own country. After all, the high level of industrialization and the growing demand for intelligent manufacturing technologies make India an important location for the SW Group, says Rieser. The location of Pune was also chosen deliberately: The city is increasingly developing into a center for industrial parks, is home to many supplier and production companies and offers a large market of well-trained specialists in addition to a growing infrastructure.

Multi-spindle machines as a growth driver

As the market leader for multi-spindle machining centers, SW is aware of the opportunities that lie in the country’s booming economy. “For SW, India offers the opportunity to grow together with the economy, particularly in the automotive, aviation, medical technology, e-mobility and two-wheeler industries,” explains Rakesh Patel, Managing Director in Pune. “The Smart Manufacturing Solutions from SW meet a high demand for fast and efficient production processes with high quantities.”

SW is now represented globally with numerous branches. These include locations in the USA and China as well as in France, Italy, Poland, Hungary, Mexico and Korea. “Every country has its own special features,” says Daniel Rieser. “It is therefore extremely valuable to be able to count on experienced local sales staff to support us in SW’s international expansion.” The new subsidiary in Pune is now a further milestone on the way to establishing expertise and know-how from Waldmössingen worldwide.
