Machine Geometry & Alignment

Course Duration:

 5 Days

Max.

 6 Participants

Languages:

 Deutsch, Englisch, Türkisch, Französisch

In this training, participants gain in-depth knowledge of the structural design, geometric alignment, and precise adjustment of SW machining centers.
The focus lies on the analysis and optimization of machine geometry as well as hands-on alignment and measurement of key assemblies.
Participants learn to identify geometric deviations, perform measurements according to defined procedures, and carry out corrective actions independently ensuring maximum accuracy and long-term process reliability.
The objective is to improve machine precision, reduce deviations, and maintain optimal geometry to guarantee consistent machining quality and maximum availability.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this training, participants will be able to

  • understand the geometric structure of SW machines,

  • perform measurements and alignments according to defined protocols,

  • dentify geometric deviations and correct them effectively,

  • set up machine components precisely after replacement,

  • evaluate and document measurement results.

Target groups
  • Maintenance technicians

Requirements
  • Participation in the course “IH-K/W – Components of SW Machines: Function and Maintenance” or proven practical experience working with SW machines.

Table of Contents
  • Structure and design of SW machining centers

  • Fundamentals of machine geometry and measurement

  • Alignment and inspection of machine axes and carriers

  • Interpretation and documentation of measurement reports

  • Practical implementation of geometry measurements on the machine

  • Use of measurement tools and devices (e.g., inclinometer, probe, dial gauge)

  • Development of practical corrective measures for geometry alignment

Machine Structure Monoblock structure
  • 3-axis unit
  • Double swivel carrier
  • A-/U-axis

About the Training

This geometry training provides comprehensive knowledge for measuring and aligning axis and spindle geometry. Theory and hands-on practice complement each other directly at the machine. Participants learn to identify, assess and correct geometric deviations in a structured and reproducible manner. Accompanying training materials reinforce the learning content and serve as a practical reference for later use in production.
