Handling and Optimization of Rotary Axes

Course Duration:

 4 Days

Max.

 4 Participants

Languages:

 Deutsch, Englisch, Türkisch, Französisch

In this training course, participants acquire advanced knowledge of torque rotary axes used in SW machining centers and learn how to optimize them and recommission them professionally.
After a compact refresher on the design and functional principles of torque rotary axes, the focus is placed on diagnostics, mechanical and electrical fine adjustment, and performance optimization.
The objective is to sustainably improve positioning accuracy, surface quality, and dynamic behavior while ensuring stable, long-term machine availability.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this training, participants will be able to

  • analyze the functional behavior of torque rotary axes,

  • evaluate mechanical and control-related influences on axis performance,

  • specifically optimize reference values, clamping behavior, and axis parameters,

  • professionally commission torque rotary axes after maintenance or compo-nent replacement,

  • sustainably increase accuracy, repeatability, and operational reliability.

Target groups
  • Maintenance technicians, machine setters, NC programmers

Requirements
  • Participation in the training course “SW-IH1– Components of SW Machines: Function and Maintenance” or proven practical experience working with SW machines.

Table of Contents
  • Design and functional principles of torque rotary axes

  • Safety regulations and accident prevention

  • Mechanical and electrical fundamentals of torque drives

  • Diagnostics and optimization of axis performance

  • Commissioning and fine adjustment

Fundamentals of Rotary Axes
  • Design and functional principles of torque rotary axes
  • Mechanical and electrical components
  • Handling and safe operation in a maintenance environment
About the Training

This training combines theoretical fundamentals on the function, design, and optimization of torque rotary axes with hands-on execution of axis optimization directly on the SW machining center. Accompanying training materials support the learning process and serve as a practice-oriented reference for later use in daily operations. Participants gain confidence in handling torque rotary axes and are able to independently implement optimization measures, contributing sustainably to machine availability.
