At the Paris Air Show from June 16 to 22, 2025 in Paris-Le Bourget, Schwäbische Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH (SW) will present its technology portfolio for the high-precision machining of aerospace components. Using aluminum and titanium wing ribs and blisk parts as examples, SW experts will demonstrate how the combination of multi-spindle machining centers and integrated automation solutions enables fully integrated and efficient production – all from a single source.
Waldmössingen, 04/24/2025, SW will make its debut at the Paris Air Show – the world’s leading aerospace trade fair – when it showcases its solutions for the automated machining of large-scale aluminum components in Hall 4, Booth F-1. Using wing rib and blisk components as examples, SW experts will demonstrate the potential that precision machining and fully integrated process chains offer to manufacturers in the aerospace sector. “Our customers are under pressure to maintain or even increase productivity in the face of skills shortages and tight delivery schedules”, says Markus Löhe, Key Account Aerospace at SW. “At the Paris Air Show, we’ll show how our integrated machining and automation solutions help achieve exactly that.”
High performance for complex aircraft components
The exhibits were produced on the BA space 3, currently the largest machine in the SW portfolio. It was specifically developed to meet the high demands of modern aircraft manufacturing. Its dual-spindle configuration allows either parallel machining of two workpieces or simultaneous operation of both spindles on a single component – ideal for high production volumes or large workpiece dimensions. Thanks to its two-axis swivel head, complex components can be machined in five axes in a single setup. “In the aerospace industry, where structural components such as wing ribs are milled from up to 95% solid material, this machine really stands out for its high dynamics, precision machining and stable processes”, says Löhe. “This also applies to challenging parts such as blisks.”
Automated process chain in the spotlight
As complexity increases – especially in large-scale aerospace projects – suppliers are seeking fully integrated solutions that cover every step from machining to process control. SW’s technology offers not only increased output through dual-spindle machining, but also seamless automation throughout the process chain.
