For users, the availability of machining centers is a decisive lever for productivity and thus manufacturing costs per component. This is especially true for older machines where the warranty has expired. Schw\u00e4bische Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH (SW) now proactively supports users worldwide with structured inspections and data evaluations based on artificial intelligence. This enables users to maintain the high availability and process reliability of their SW systems in the long term. As a result, SW prepares a recommended course of action for repairs that need to be made, prioritized, including detailed bids.<\/strong><\/p>\n Fixed-price inspections have long been a matter of course for motorists. SW is transferring this approach to the approximately 6,000 machines installed worldwide with the service life upgrade. The inspection already starts in advance with a data query of the corresponding plant. For example, SW Service uses the data to create a spindle-specific “route” for the rolling bearing analysis of the motor spindle and transfers it to the rolling bearing analyzer.<\/p>\n The subsequent on-site inspection of the machine includes a structured examination with spindle geometry check, the taking of a hydraulic oil sample as well as an AI-based rolling bearing analysis of the motor spindles. While the machine continues to produce, the data and samples are evaluated using special procedures. For example, SW’s spindle assembly additionally uses “machine learning” algorithms in the data evaluation of the rolling bearing analysis and reliably evaluates the condition. All data are stored protected on the SW database and serve as reference values for the next inspections. This also enables SW service specialists to identify long-term changes and trends and derive wear and tear from them at an early stage.<\/p>\n After the evaluation, SW creates a detailed analysis of the machine’s condition with recommendations for action to ensure the machine’s process reliability until the next maintenance interval. Customers are free to decide whether and when to implement the measures based on detailed cost estimates and expected repair times. An inspection sticker in the operator’s field of vision alerts him to the next inspection date after twelve months.
